Face wash ingredient checker
What's in your face wash? Check the ingredient list.
Paste your facial cleanser label to identify cleansing agents, moisturising ingredients, fragrance and preservatives, with plain-language explanations for every matched name.
How to check a label
- Copy the full Ingredients or INCI list from the cleanser's packaging or product page.
- Paste it into the checker, or start with the face wash example below.
- Look at the cleansing agents first, then the ingredients added for texture, skin feel and preservation.
- Open the ingredient links to learn what each name means. A label does not reveal the finished product's gentleness or suitability for your skin.
Cleansers: what washes the product away?
A face wash combines ingredients that help remove oil and dirt with ingredients that set its texture. For example, Decyl Glucoside and Cocamidopropyl Betaine can serve cleansing roles. Their presence alone cannot tell you whether the final wash will feel gentle or drying.
A cleansing ingredient's purpose is not the same as its concentration. The complete formulation and how you use it both matter. Read how to read a cosmetic ingredient list for the limitations of label order.
What do glycerin, panthenol and preservatives do?
Glycerin is commonly included to help retain moisture. Panthenol may play a conditioning role. A preservative such as Phenoxyethanol protects the formula from microbial spoilage; the checker shows the ingredient's documented roles rather than judging the entire wash.
If you are comparing two cleansers, paste both into our ingredient list comparison tool. Compare which names appear, not an invented safety score.
How do I spot fragrance on a face wash label?
Look for Parfum or Fragrance and any separately listed fragrance constituents. The exact name and label context matter. For additional background, see fragrance-free vs unscented.
If the checker cannot confidently identify a name, it asks or leaves it unknown. Unknown does not mean harmless.

Can an ingredient checker tell whether my face wash is good for sensitive skin?
No. It explains the listed ingredients, but the finished formula, concentrations and individual skin responses are not shown by the ingredient list.
Can I check a cleansing balm or gel cleanser too?
Yes. Paste its full ingredient list. The names and roles may differ from the face wash example.
Does my pasted ingredient list leave my browser?
No. This checker matches names locally in your browser.
